TechSmith Camtasia Studio 5.0

The final word: In terms of features, Camtasia Studio 5.0 is the best choice for professionals, although the sheer wealth of options means it takes time to learn properly. The only down side is the fact that it is possible to buy (low-quality) recording software for a lot cheaper, while AllCapture 2.0 has many features for half the cost. Camtasia beats them all - but at a steep price.

CAMTASIA Studio 5.0 is a specialist program for those who need to record applications on their PC for training or promotion purposes. These screencasts can be saved in a range of formats, including Flash, WMV, AVI and QuickTime.

There are several competitors, including AllCapture and (for basic requirements) Easy Screen Capture Video, but none are as comprehensive as Camtasia Studio 5.0.

Jumper Reaches $38.3 Million in 5 Days

The ComingSoon.net Box Office Report has been updated with studio estimates for the weekend. Be sure to check back on Tuesday for final figures based on actual box office. The Bourne Identity and Mr. & Mrs. Smith director Doug Liman struck again, as his new sci-fi action-thriller Jumper opened to impressive numbers this holiday weekend. Over the four-day Presidents' Day weekend, Jumper earned an estimated $31.7 million from 3,428 theaters for an average of $9,247 per location. That makes it the fifth-biggest opening for the weekend ever, trailing just Ghost Rider ($52 million), 50 First Dates ($45.2 million), Daredevil ($45 million) and Constantine ($33.6 million). 20th Century Fox took advantage of Valentine's Day Thursday, opening the pic a day early and allowing the movie to reach $38.3 million in its first five days domestically.

Norwegian broadcaster: P2P experiment "extremely positive"

Solheim said in an interview (republished on NRK's blog in English) that the experience will likely "clear the rights for this kind of distribution of more content."

Since the experiment's inception just over a month ago, Nordkalotten 365 has been downloaded over 90,000 times—shocking to NRK, since Norway is a small country of only 4.6 million. Not only that, but the people downloading have been good torrenters too. The files have had ratios close to 95 percent, which Solheim said saved license fee payers 95 percent of all distribution costs. "People are happily seeding the files," Solheim said.

There was also less resistance to the project than he thought, once the network was able to get the message across that BitTorrent isn't "illegal." Solheim said that the managers of Nordkalotten 365 were surprisingly open to the idea, even composing their own music to avoid dealing with licensing fees.

After just one year, ASU junked its scholarship program for illegal ...

Clearly, this could have been handled with a bit more grace.

Here's another question: Just how hard did ASU work on getting donations for this scholarship? I haven't heard any direct requests for support. Granted, I'm not rich and not an ASU alum; I wouldn't blame anyone for leaving me off their fundraising list. But with an issue like this, you'd think a public plea would be in order — if nothing else, a story in the newspaper urging people to give. I can't find any evidence that ever happened. When we last heard about this issue, President Crow made it sound as though the matter was taken care of. ASU had found private funds. Period.

Which makes me wonder this.

Did ASU really run out of money? Or was it just easier not to raise it?

With legislators breathing hot air and an angry mob at the gate, it surely would be easier for ASU to cut 207 Mexican-born students adrift than to keep fighting.

Two murders and two life sentences won't alter one convict's ...

Robert Rodriguez just keeps cranking 'em out. This hasn't always been a good thing--Spy Kids 2 and 3 felt rushed in a way that the first one didn't, and Once Upon a Time in Mexico looked cheap compared with its cinematic predecessor, Desperado. But the more Rodriguez keeps at it, the better handle he seems to have on the digital tools available to him. Sin City was a striking triumph of visuals, and his latest movie for kids, The Adventures of Sharkboy & Lavagirl in 3D, plays like a more polished, better-looking second draft of Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over. .

Good News Week

My humps, my humps, my lovely little humps," sang McDermott in tune with the Black Eyed Peas' 2005 song.

It was probably around that moment that any misgivings one might have held about the decision to reprise the satiric current affairs show Good News Week after a hiatus of eight years were all but forgotten. McDermott has lost none of his cheek, and his sarcastic wit is as quick and vicious as ever. The banter between captains Mikey Robbins, the dry Claire Hooper and a panel of revolving guests is fluid and unpredictable - the X factor of live television. Indeed, just about all the parts of the old show seem to be in decent working order; the fruity language and smutty innuendo worthy of pimply teenage boys, the hard-edged political slander and post-mortems on what passes for news and information today and catch-us-if-you-dare assaults on the Mr Nice Guy values of middle-brow Australia.

Olympics: Five divers seeking to join Bryan in Beijing

KUALA LUMPUR: The number of Malaysian qualifiers for the Olympics is expected to increase drastically when our divers compete in the 16th FINA World Cup in Beijing from Feb 19-25.

Of the divers, five – Yeoh Ken Nee, Rossharisham Roslan, Leong Mun Yee, Elizabeth Jimie and Pandalela Rinong – have been identified as having the potential to do well at the World Cup, which is the last platform to qualify for the Olympics.

So far, seven athletes have qualified for the Olympic Games on merit. They are diver Bryan Nickson Lomas; archers Cheng Chu Sian, Wan Mohd Khalmizam Wan Abdul Aziz and Mohd Marbawi Sulaiman; taekwondo exponents Elaine Teo and Che Chew Chan; and pole vaulter Roslinda Samsu.

Yesterday, the National Sports Council’s (NSC) aquatics manager for elite athletes, Jennifer Yong, said that it was possible for Malaysia to have the biggest number of divers at the Olympics as the top 18 semi-finalists in the individual competition of the World Cup will make the cut.

Jennifer said that 14-year-old Pandalela, the country’s top junior diver, was their best bet for an Olympic berth in the 10m platform.

“She is our best bet to make the grade in the World Cup.

Halfway through the animated Tom Hanks film, they left the theater."It wasn't an upbeat Christmas movie, and I could tell he was bored," the Twin Falls woman said.Walker isn't alone in her struggle to find films she considers appropriate for children. Across Magic Valley, parents eye the movie listings and have to make a choice: Do they rely on word of mouth, critics' reviews or detailed ratings before giving Junior the OK?That decision is harder when theaters are full of sex and violence. Hollywood is turning out lots of PG-13 and R-rated movies, and fewer rated G or PG."I've been wanting to take (my son) to a movie for the last month or so but there isn't anything out there I would take him to see," Walker said. The selection isn't a problem for teens or adults, she added. "For the size of the town that we are, there's enough of a variance in the type of movies that they show."Theaters in south-central Idaho are currently playing five PG-rated movies and one G-rated film ("Mr.
