Ellen Page's Sexuality! Jennifer Garner's Hairdo!

Tilda promises her award to her agent, but I bet he'll only take 10 percent of it. No Country for Old Men wins Best Adapted Screenplay despite the lengthy stretches with no dialogue whatsoever. What I have to say about that is . . . (silence; the wind blows a tumbleweed into the dead man's face; a coyote yelps in the distance).

9:54 p.m.: The legendary inflatable doll known as Miley Cyrus announces another lousy nominated song. Who could forget Miley's immortal Grammy moment when she professed love for dad, her brother, and Jesus Christ? The son of our Lord will be so thrilled to know he's on a par with the guy who did "Achy Breaky Heart"!

10:15 p.m.: Best Actress already? Did someone shuffle the cue cards? Cate Blanchett must be the first person to be nominated for a movie that got a 34 percent rating on rottentomatoes.com.

Youth minister's admission breaks 1994 stabbing case

The Pasadena man knew he needed to surrender to authorities for something he said he did as a 16-year-old in 1994. That's when, police said he told them, he fatally stabbed a 64-year-old convenience store clerk for cash and cigarettes.

Earlier this month, Inman told authorities he and a then 13-year-old friend planned to rob Mumtaz Grocery store the afternoon of Aug. 14, 1994. When the store's clerk, Iqbal Ahmed, asked for identification, Inman told police he pulled out a large kitchen knife from his pants and stabbed Ahmed once in the chest.

Ahmed died at the store. The two teenagers fled to a nearby apartment complex and never spoke about the incident leaving the case unsolved for more than 13 years.

Leaders of the 800-member Elim Church at 3200 South Richey, where Inman was a youth minister, said Friday they were shocked to learn of the crime.

Panasonic PV-GS320 camcorder

Another questionable design decision puts the FireWire and USB ports for transferring video to your Mac under the battery. You must remove the battery and plug your AC cables into the wall in order to transfer video.

The PV-GS320 is also missing a headphone jack and external microphone input—this can be a deal breaker for serious video jockeys. The camcorder has an accessory shoe for self-powered lights and other accessories.

The camcorder's menus were easy to navigate via the controls. However, they take up the whole 2.7-inch LCD screen, which makes it hard to preview changes to your settings without backing out of all of the menus.

Performance

The benefits of this design were quickly apparent in our testing, as our assembled panel of editors gave the video quality a Superior rating, both in low light and in normal shooting conditions.

Phil Lewis: Interior’s rules tread close to trampling free press

Those of us in the news media are more than a bit concerned over proposed rules that could restrict photography — both still and video — on public lands.

The Society of Professional Journalists and 18 other journalism organizations signed a letter this month opposing the new rules being drafted by the U.S. Department of Interior.

The federal agency says it is simply codifying agency rules that are already in place. These rules include a fee schedule for commercial crews that want to film in our national parks and guidelines for what can be filmed by others and where.

So what's wrong with charging a Hollywood crew a fee to shoot a wildlife movie or some other film on public land? Shouldn't there be a charge when a television commercial is shot on the rim of the Grand Canyon? Aren't rules and oversight needed to keep film crews from damaging the fragile ecosystem of the Everglades and other national parks?

That's not where the beef is.

Journalist? Blogger? Self-promo Strategist? You Decide on Josh Wolf ...

Journalism is a tough profession to crack legitimately. At no earlier time in media history have there been far more candidates than there are job openings as layoffs continue to plague an industry best defined as a sinking ship.

So, why would one young man who calls himself a journalist sit in jail (coercive confinement) rather than try breaking into the profession legitimately?

Anyone's guess.

Josh Wolf has become "news," which used to be an unwritten 'no, no' by professional media standards.

Once upon a time...a journalist was someone who gathered information, wrote on the topic of interest, and found his/her story with a byline in some future print edition. Today however, technology has changed what accounts for news, what defines rounded or objective journalism, and who is indeed a journalist.

Film production company wants local studio

An Alamogordo High School graduate presented his plans Monday evening to build a film sound studio and post-production facility on the southeast side of the city to a group of neighbors, including several who are opposed to the project.

Scott Hester, of Marble Canyon Studios, has asked the city to rezone land he plans to buy from residential zoning to light industrial. The 11.6 acre tract is near 2500 First St. Hester plans to build a single story office building and sound studio, along with outdoor Western sets.

About 40 people attended the meeting, held at City Hall, including commissioners Steve Brockett and Ed Cole, in whose district the property is located. The rezoning request will be fully heard Wednesday at the city's Planning and Zoning Commission meeting, and the city has already received eight official protests to the rezoning.

Nashville's Chris St. Croix Proves Being Dirty Pays Off

CHICAGO, Nov. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Nashvillian Chris St. Croix is a dirty boy. That's fine by him since that makes him the proud winner of AXE's "The World's Dirtiest Film" nationwide contest. The film, which premieres online today at http://www.worldsdirtiestfilm.com/, is a compilation of produced scenes featuring David Spade and user-generated videos of guys and girls getting dirty, including St. Croix's winning video "Chick Fight."

"The World's Dirtiest Film" kicked off in September on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" when AXE Shower Gel and David Spade asked filmmakers across the country to submit their own "dirty" films for a chance to make the cut into the final short-length film. While there is absolutely no nudity, there's plenty of footage that is so dirty ... that guys will beg for a shower.
